The Hong Kong Wetland Park, Hong Kong Arts Centre and Public Art Hong Kong jointly present a community project that involves 500 primary school students making use of the soil from Tin Shui Wai to create ceramic art.
Objective:
1. To utilize the natural resources from the site to present a collective community project
2. To introduce the idea of art and nature to primary school students in Tin Shui Wai district
3. To stimulate the creativity of the younger generation
4. To promote Hong Kong’s natural environment to the younger generation
5. To nurture community spirit among the younger generation
6. To strengthen the relationship between local schools and the HK Wetland Park
7. To highlight the educational role of the HK Wetland Park
8. To create a positive image of Tin Shui Wai to local residents and the general public
Participants:
500 Students from the primary schools located at Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai districts
Major components:
The project consists of four parts:
1. A ceramic art school workshop (October 2006)
2. Soil digging activity (7 November 2006)
3. On site creation the HK Wetland Park (2 December 2006)
4. Pit-firing at the HK Wetland Park (20 December 2006)
5. Exhibition of the 500 pieces (or so) at the Wetland Park (April 2007)
