Kum Chi Keung’s impressive bird cages in 2002 at the Arts Centre lobby was widely well received by the audience and ignited a curious conversation between artist, artwork and the public within public space. With the newly proposed artwork, Space for Lease, this dialogue is extended and continued.Artist Statement “In the process of development mankind grows unceasingly with the desire to extend their territory even beyond the earth’s soil into space through the invention of rockets. Does mankind want to breakthrough from their physical limitation or wish to broaden their domain?”
